Recipe share: What did you cook this week? was created by Harry
This thread is simple.
Tell us what you cooked this week.
Doesn't have to be impressive.
Doesn't have to be healthy in any specific way.
Just real food that you actually made.
If you have a photo, drop it in.
If you have a recipe, share it and it might end up in the recipe database.
If you just want to say "I made pasta with whatever was left in the fridge," that counts too.
I'll update mine every week.
This week:
Leberkäse with mashed potatoes, buttered vegetables and a fried egg
Classic Bavarian comfort food.
Nothing fancy, nothing complicated.
Exactly the kind of meal that makes a rough day feel manageable.
What you need (1 serving):
1 slice of Leberkäse, about 1.5 cm thick
4 medium potatoes
1 egg
2 handfuls of mixed vegetables, we called here Buttergemüße ak. buttervegetables ( available as frozen vegetables )
butter, milk, salt, pepper
How to make it:
Peel and quarter the potatoes, cook in salted water until soft.
Drain, mash with a generous knob of butter and a splash of warm milk.
Season with salt and pepper.
While the potatoes cook, cut the vegetables into bite-sized pieces and cook in salted water until just tender.
Drain, toss in a pan with butter for a minute, season with salt and fresh herbs if you have them.
Fry the Leberkäse slice in a hot pan with a little oil, about 3 minutes each side until nicely browned on the outside.
In the same pan or a second one, melt a small knob of butter over medium heat and crack the egg in carefully.
Fry until the white is set but the yolk is still runny.
Put it all on a plate. Egg goes on top of the Leberkäse.
Done. 25 minutes from start to finish.
